Clermont Fire Department will beat the heat early this year. We have decided to go out August 8th,15th,and 22nd. The purpose for Clermont to hit the streets early this year was to give the guys a break from the heat. We hope all will be just as excited as I am in collecting the money for the MDA in less heat. GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND LET’S HAVE FUN.

Dear IAFF Affiliate Leaders and Boot Drive Coordinators:
First of all, we would like to thank everyone for working so hard on the 2008 Florida Firefighter Fill the Boot campaign for MDA. With a few exceptions, our program is over and the dollars are in MDA’s bank. The total is hovering around $2 million dollars, an extraordinary accomplishment and we expect to retain our #2 position again in national rankings.
Unfortunately, due to the downturn in the economy and an assortment of other factors, our 2008 income is down by almost $500,000 from 2007. In order to reduce costs so as not to adversely impact research and health care services, MDA was forced to make the difficult decision to cancel its annual District 12 Training Conference.
In the spirit of cooperation and partnership, the Florida Professional Firefighters and the Florida Fire Chiefs Association recognize the importance of doing everything possible to help MDA maintain the scope and quality of services for the children and adults served. To keep the momentum of MDA’s largest fundraising program, the Boot Drive Campaign, strong and viable, we have decided to pool the resources of our three organizations. The plan is to schedule smaller, more localized meetings whereby MDA, boot drive coordinators, FPF local affiliate leaders and Florida Fire Chiefs can meet on the same day/location and allot increments of time to address each organization’s topics of interest.
The Fire Service’s commitment to MDA has never been more important during this time of great research advances and the encouraging news coming from clinical drug and gene therapy trials. When we get past the grim economic months ahead, most of us will go on with our lives, planning for the future. Our MDA kids’ and adults’ futures hang in the balance whether times are good or times are tough. Our commitment is not so shallow as to let them down now.
Meeting dates and locations will be announced in the near future. Please direct questions or concerns to anyone of us.
By joining forces, we can make every effort really count
Sincerely,
Bob Carver Pat MacNichols Nat Ippolito

Fire fighters from the Clermont Fire Fighter Department will fill their boots for Jerry's kids.
We at Clermont Fire Department and Local 4350 have dedicated our selves to the MDA for the past year. Up until 2006 we have only raised $5000 to $6000 in the past. We decided in 2006 we were going to do better, so we attacked the streets like they were on fire. We went two weekends with each shift being excited to get out there with their boots and collect. Then the same year we attended our first MDA camp which was at
